Houston, Nettie Raney

1884 - 1969

Lifetime resident, Mrs. Nettie Houston, 85, died Wednesday in a Garland hospital after a lengthy illness. Born at Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Houston was the widow of George Houston, married June 30, 1909 he preceded her in death in 1939. Her parents were Marcus C. and Parthena Newman Raney. Funeral services were held today at First Christian Chapel. Dr. C. Crow officiated, assisted by Rev. Ken Cuppett. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Helen Headin of Garland; Mrs. S. H. Scott and Mrs. J C Parr, both of Dallas; Mrs. Gladys Hodnett and Mrs. H. J. Runge, both of Torrence, Calif., and Mrs. Joe Cox of Mineral Wells; one son, Ralph Houston, Dallas; a sister, Mrs. A. W. Davis, Wichita Falls, and a number of grandchildren and great-grand children. Pallbearers were grandsons, Jimmy Scott, Johnny Scott, Tony Scott, Nicky Scott, Greg Scott and Gary Houston.
